The winter of 2017/18 was characterized by very warm temperatures and low precipitation.  Total precipitation for the period from 1 November through 31 March ranged from 0.12” at the Yuma South to 0.36” at Roll.  Normal precipitation for the same period ranges from 1.7-2.0”.  The dry weather and lack of precipitation produced low levels of leaf wetness as measured by the monitoring equipment now installed at the four local AZMET stations.  The total number of hours of wetness ranged from 104 at Roll to 220 at Yuma South.  The figures below summarize the number of hours of leaf wetness reported each day for the winter period ending 31 March 2018.   A more detailed assessment of the 2017/18 leaf wetness data will be summarized in future newsletter articles.
